• The Best Sunday Routine For An Incredibly Productive Week

It’s important to develop the best Sunday routine for an incredibly productive week because Sunday is like a double-edged sword; it’s a weekend and also the start of a new week.

Sunday’s can be tricky to plan which is why having a Sunday Routine is must if you want to have the best of weeks.

Sunday’s are hands down my favourite day of the week because it’s the day where I determine how my week is going to be; either good or bad.

Truth be told, one can never be 100% certain about what a new week bears but when you plan for it, there’s this calm that comes with knowing you have given yourself heads up.

Previously, I didn’t see the essence of having a Sunday Routine. I believed Sunday’s should be “wing” it days. But when I started to work a 9-5 and realized my week was always in limbo, I began to find ways to have a more productive we

After seeing the benefits of having Sunday Routines for an incredibly productive week, I just had to share with you all. I know first hand how difficult productivity is for us millennials.

The Best Sunday Routine For An Incredibly Productive Week

    Sleep A Little More

Unpopular opinion, Sunday’s are my turn off the alarm day, not Saturdays. I find my Saturdays are usually filled with chores and even when I decide to lie in bed a few extra hours, my mind is far too perturbed with my long to-do-list and my body jumpstarts before my extra lie-in-hour.

So, on Sundays, I cheat nature and sleep a little more. And no, sleeping a bit more isn’t a sign of laziness, it is simply you giving your body, some form of self-care because more sleep equals better rest.

Never doubt the power of one extra hour of sound sleep. You wake up totally refreshed and ready to usher in the new week

    Home Service

Within the last 2 months, I haven’t set foot in a church ( yes, judge me). Rather I’ve found a means of keeping my spiritual life strong. On Sundays, I have my own home service where I worship, pray and listen to my favourite gospel podcasts.

I understand that church attendance is fundamental for Christians but one of the biggest conceptions I have come to accept this 2019 is that God is present everywhere and your relationship with Him isn’t tied to the percentage of your church attendance.

Performing my Sunday service at home is pure bliss, it’s more private and personal between Christ and I. It also saves me from commuting to and fro church.

    Attend to my inbox.

Checking my email is part of my daily routine, however I leave responding to some important emails like blog collaboration until weekends. Because I find out that I’m more settled in and can properly go through the terms and conditions of any collaboration before responding.

So go ahead and check your emails. Ensure you reply pending emails. Don’t start a new week with stale emails from last week.

Also, recently I’ve become really bad at reading chats. So on Sundays, I go through my WhatsApp and social media pages, reply to DM’s and comments from my followers.

De-clutter & Tidy Up Your Space.

There’s something so relaxing about having a clutter-free house.

While I do chores such as Laundry, Meal Prep ( If I have to) on Saturdays. I leave decluttering my room for Sundays. There’s no particular reason why I choose Sundays as my Tidy up room day.

However, My during weekdays I seldom have the chance to do anything other than lay my bed. So I like to do every other thing on Sunday so, during the week, I don’t end up coming to a scattered room.

If you’ve read Marie Condo’s book on The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, you will understand that having a clutter-free space help boost your mood. Decluttering your space is one of the best Sunday routines for an incredibly productive week.

I wrote a review on Marie’s the magic of decluttering

    Reflect & Strategise

So you are about to enter a new week, but have you taken out time to reflect on the week you just had? How was it? What were the highs and lows?

Reflection is an integral part of planning a more productive week.

First, start by evaluating how the last week went. I find it best to do this the old school way – Pen & Paper.

    • Write down the goals you completed.
    • Write down the ones you missed.
    • Write down 3 highpoints of the week.
    • Write down 3 Low moments too?
    • Write down 3 things you did to relax & care for self. It can be something as simple as ordering something you craved for or as exhilarating as having drinks with friends after work.

When you are done writing these down, read through them and determine how you intend to make this week better. That’s where Strategy comes in.

    Ask yourself these questions.

    • What made me not achieve all I planned for last week and how can I do better?.
    • What triggered the downtimes I experienced last week?.

Once you have this figured out, plan to avoid such triggers.

Write Down Goals & Update To-Do List

Documenting is a must if you are looking towards becoming more productive with your time.

Instead of waiting until Monday to write your new week goals, write them on Sundays, so you head into Monday with a clear picture of what to do. Also, draw up your to-do-list

I run my day using journals and To-do-lists. On Sundays, I settle in, itemize my activities for the week and structure them into a To-do-list. This helps me stay focused and accountable to my duties and invariably help me achieve a more productive week.

Plan Your Outfits For The Week.

One thing that can set your Monday morning wrong is when you are caught between what to wear, you spend time trying on and on and end up running late for work. Avoid this by planning your outfits on Sunday instead.

To do this, first, go through the weather app on your phone and check the forecast for the entire week. According to the weather report, begin to plan your outfits. So if it’s scheduled to rain on Tuesdays, you can decide to plan a thick or layered outfit for that day.

Also, if you’re workplace has a dress code, you can plan your outfits with that. So for e.g, Monday can be a power suit, Thursday- Corporate casual and Fridays- Ankara.

You know what outfits work best for you.

Carefully plan for each day, from underwear to shoes, have it all properly arranged and kept somewhere easily reachable.

There are so many perks to planning your weekly work outfit but my personal best is the slaying you get to serve all week long.

    Check-in on Family & Friends.

Spend quality time checking in on your loved ones.

You might be too occupied during the week and may not remember to call them, so do it now.

    Self Care is Best care

So, you’ve done these amazing things, now it’s time to reward yourself!

Self-care defers from person to person, hence I won’t be giving any specific recommendations. I’ll simply advise you to do whatever makes you happy be it; dancing, eating junk, soaking in a bath, binge-watching movies or reading.

Go with your own tempo and create something truly beautiful for yourself.

    Sleep Early

Remember the saying- early to bed, early to rise. Well it’s true!

Avoid the temptation of watching movies all night and go to bed on time, you’ll wake up the next month feeling like you slept enough. But if you choose to sleep late, you will wake up and feel cranky because you barely slept and that’s such a horrible way to begin a new work week.

    So, sleep early.

    Bonus (Change Your Perspective)

I know there are a lot of quotes about Mondays and how difficult they are but try to change your perspective. Instead of seeing Monday as that horrible day when you have to ditch the beauty of the weekend and resume work.

Simply see it as every other work day and have a positive mindset for Mondays.

There we go, the best Sunday routine for an incredibly productive week. Don’t forget to share this post with friends and family, let’s all kick asses this week.
